I tried a couple different dessert recipes for my Thanksgiving menu this year, from Ina Garten cookbooks.  The first was a pumpkin flan, but I didn't like the addition of orange zest in the recipe.  Next, I made the ultimate pumpkin pie, omitting the orange zest.  I was very pleased with the flavors and light texture of this pumpkin pie.

The Tulsa Zoo is mourning the loss of its beloved male African lion, Kofi, who had been part of the zoo family since 2004. Kofi passed away this weekend in his exhibit holding area surrounded by his caregivers.

Kofi had been under close supervision of animal care and veterinary staff after a diagnosis of chronic end-stage renal disease. Kidney failure is a common cause of death in older felids, including domestic house cats.
