A pot of chicken tortilla soup sounded good for a snowy weekend meal. We ended up with six inches of snow here in NE Oklahoma. It is a bright sunshine morning today, and temperature to reach mid fifties.

Of the photos I took of Jazzy yesterday afternoon, I couldn't decide which one I like best, so I'm posting both of these! This window in the family room is Jazzy's favorite place to keep an eye out for squirrels or any other happenings in the back yard. She can be so content watching a squirrel running along the top of the fence, or jumping from tree to tree.

This is the tornado shelter sign at the local mall.
Tornado Safety Tips from the News on 6:
The best shelter from a tornado is a basement or storm cellar. If neither one is available, go to an inside room without windows on the lowest level of the building.
Cover yourself with something, such as pillows, a mattress or blankets.
Place as many walls between you and the outside as possible.
Mobile homes are extremely unsafe during a tornado. Seek shelter elsewhere, if possible.
Avoid windows. Despite popular belief, opening windows to equalize pressure has no effect in reducing damage during a tornado.
Be aware of the counties, cities and towns that are near you. It will be easier to track the tornado's direction if you are familiar with the geography of your area.
If you are in a vehicle, get out immediately and go to the lowest floor of a sturdy, nearby building or a storm shelter. If there is not a building nearby, lie flat in a ditch or depression and cover your head with your hands.
DO NOT get under an underpass or bridge. It is not safe since it can leave you exposed to flying debris.

We went to an auto show at the QuikTrip Center yesterday. As we were walking into the building, I snapped a few pics of this 76' tall replica of an oilfield roustabout standing next to an oil derrick. The statue was originally built in 1953 by the Mid-Continent Supply Company of Fort Worth, Texas for the International Petroleum Exposition, and was erected again for the 1959 show. Due to the positive attention it attracted, the company donated the statue to the Tulsa County Fairgrounds Trust Authority. The statue was permanently installed for the 1966 International Petroleum Exposition at the Tulsa Expo Center. In 1979, the Golden Driller was adopted by the Oklahoma Legislature as the state monument.

My house is in the cul-de-sac, though not visible from this view. A few more weeks and the bermuda grass will green up. It goes dormant in the cooler seasons. The bradford pear trees and redbud trees are already filled with spring color. The redbud is the state tree of Oklahoma.

This photo is from the August 30 open house day at the BOK Center in downtown Tulsa. The Eagles Long Road Out of Eden concert was the first ticketed event. Tickets for the September 6, 2008 concert sold out in less than thirty minutes. We traveled to Dallas the next weekend to meet my son and his girlfriend for the September 14 concert at the American Airlines Center. Oh, and then the Eagles returned to the BOK Center for a second performance on November 11 . . . tickets were available.

The weather forecast for northeast Oklahoma today is chance of rain, snow and sleet. Cloudy with a high near 37 degrees F. Here's Jazzy snuggled in her Coleman Hibernation Sleeping Bag. She looks a bit annoyed that I'm disturbing her from trying to take a nap! I bought the large size sleeping bag, says it's ideal for large pets, 50 to 80 pounds. It's ideal for Jazzy who weighs less than thirty pounds.

A long time favorite of tourists and locals alike, Crabtown is housed in a 20,000 sq. ft. renovated warehouse in OKC's historic Bricktown district. We went to the OKC metro to visit our son this afternoon, and while there we had dinner at a favorite Pearl's Restaurant.

Tulips and daffodils to brighten your day! Looking forward to 'springing forward' tonight, and gaining that extra daylight where it makes sense!

My husband had a business trip to Paris awhile back. While there he shopped at the Galleries Lafayette. He purchased this fabulous Christian Lacroix silk scarf for me.
