My paternal grandmother crocheted this lovely piece many years ago. It measures thirty-five inches in diameter.

Christina, like Mari said, what a treasure. Beautiful AND I assume that you do use it which is sometimes hard to do with heirlooms - the tendency being to pack them away so they don't get damaged.

I do treasure it, and I also enjoy it! It's on my round dining table. I think my grandma would be happy that it's being enjoyed and appreciated so much.

I used to crochet things like this many years ago. Now, I don't remember what ever happened to them. I hope my girls have them.

A tip: If one ever gets stained, after you've washed it (do not put it in the dryer) leave it damp and lay it out on the grass in the sun. It will be nice and white the next day.

This goes for just about anything, but especially whites. Like nice tea towels that get stained. Or table clothes, etc.
